Lazy Blocking

1. Saturate knit fabric and try to squeeze out excess water.
2. Lay flat on a towel and shape.

 3. fold edge of towel just over end of knit or crochet fabric.

4. Roll up towel carefully, and not too loose or tight, trying to keep shape.
5. Put away for a few hours to a day, or until piece is dry.

Blocking made easy. This is how I tell my friends who dont knit or crochet how to block their pieces. Except, I dont call it blocking, I call it shaping since that is a generic term that most can adopt.

Snowman

http://www.freewebs.com/spunknit1/knittedsnowman.htm

This is a quick and fun project. And you get to totally personalize it with your own hat/scarves/mittens etc.

I'd rate it on the pretty easy level. You only need to know how to increase, decrease and knit! sweet! I love stuff like that.

Try it!

Ninja Cat Hat

Ninja Cat Hat
Yarn: Chunky/Craft/Rug (5-Medium)  If you’re making a ninja hat, it must be black.
Needles: 10 DPN's and 10 Straights
Sizes: Toddler (Child)

Pattern
Neck
CO 52 (58)

Rows 1-4 1x1 rib, Work flat on straights.

Toddler: BO 13, knit 26, BO 13
Child: BO 14, knit 30, BO 14

***It may be easier to knit those center stitches right onto your DPNs, since the next step is casting on in the round to make the top part of the hat. Whatever, it’s up to you! :)

Time to cast on 30 (32) stitches I did it to the left of the working stitches and join in round to start hat! **Make extra sure you knit the hat right side out!
Knit in Stockinette Stitch for 7.5” (8.5”)

BO with Kitchener Stitch.

Sew both corners shut, sewing all the way through both layers of fabric.

Cable and Rib Hat

When I can get a better pic I will upload it. This will have to do for now.

Cable and Rib Hat
Yarn: worsted/aran.  (4 medium)
Needles: size 7 DPN’s
Sizes: Preemie (Baby, Toddler, Child, Woman, Man)       Sizes are according to the CYC Standards.

Stitches:
C2F: slip 2 stitches purlwise to right needle holding yarn in back, knit 2 stitches, return 2 slipped stitches to left needle keeping them in front, yarn in back and knit them.

m1t: Make one toward.  Though after seeing the finished product I think m1a(make 1 away) might look better. Its up to you. Just increase 1 stitch between the 4 purl stitches.

Pattern

CO 56(64, 72, 80, 88, 96)

K4, p4 rib around for 4 rounds.

Cable Pattern
R1: C2F, p2, m1t, p2 across
R2-4: K4, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1 across
R5: C2F, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1 across
Repeat Rounds 2-5 until piece is at desired length and then begin decreases. 4-5" (5-7", 8", 9", 11", 12")

Decreasing:
R1: Knit the first 7 stitches in the pattern and then decrease the last 2 as a k2tog, repeat across.
R2: Knit a regular round of the pattern
R3: knit the first 6 stitches in the pattern and then decrease the last 2 as a k2tog, repeat across.
R4: Knit a regular round of the pattern

Once you have decreased 4 times and there are 5 stitches in the first group follow this row and you need to cable.

Hold first 2 cable stitches to the front, k1, k2tog, Continue the cable stitch using the k2tog stitch as the 4th stitch. If this is confusing, just don’t do it and leave out the last cable. I totally understand and I wont know. And neither will anyone else.

When there are 2 stitches left in the first group, pull a piece of yarn through all loops knitwise. Pull nice and tight and weave in all ends. You are done!

Bobble Hat Pattern

Well folks, here it is! My bobble hat pattern.

Yarn: Aran/Worsted
I used Bamboospun which is distributed by Hobby Lobby.
Needles: 7 DPN’s
Sizes: Preemie (Baby, Toddler, Child, Woman, Man)       (I'm not sure how comfy this will be for a preemie or infant that cant hold their head up.)

The bobble (B) stitch: k5 times into 1 stitch. turn work and purl into those 5 stitches. turn work again and k2tog, slip it back onto the left needle and slip remaining 3 stitches over the k2tog stitch. slip back to right needle. (remember to knit tightly before and after the bobble stitch so there isn't a huge gaping hole.)

Pattern
CO 56(64, 72, 80, 88, 96)
sts on needles   14(16, 18, 20, 22, 24)

r1-3: *k4, p4, repeat across

8 stitch pattern; also knit 2 rows between pattern.
r1: k1, *B, k7, to last 7 sts. B, k6
r2: k2, *B, k7, to last 7 sts. B, k5
r3: k3, *B, k7, to last 7 sts. B k4

r5: K5, *B, k7, to last 7 sts. B k2
r6: K6, *B, k7, to last 7 sts. B, k1
r7: K7, B
r8: k 2 rows

Repeat these 8 rows in this sequence until desired length. 4-5" (5-7", 8", 9", 11", 12")
***DO NOT forget to knit 2 rows between each bobble row.

Decreasing
When you want to start your decreases, use this formula
Continue bobble stitch pattern from wherever you currently are in the pattern.
1 ssk after each bobble.
Continue pattern until there are 8 sts left on needles.
Pull yarn on a needle through the 8 loops and secure.
**optional, make a huge pom pom and pop it right on top.

Football!

I've decided to go ahead and post the pattern. The football pictured does not reflect the small change I'm making to the pattern. I hope you enjoy this one!

These are great gifts for babies/toddlers/children.  These are great to throw at the TV when you're pissed at a bad call. ---because you know there are ALWAYS bad calls.

Yarn: I LOVE This Cotton! Brown and Ivory. You really dont need much yarn for this project, you could easily make multiple footballs with 1 skein of brown.

Needles: size 3 DPN's

Stitches:
m1a : make one away
m1t : make one towards
k: knit
sski: slip knitwise, slip purlwise, knit 2 slipped stitches through the back loop. (sski= slip slip knit improved)

Knit 4 rows
Decreasing:
R1:       k12, sski, k1, k2tog, k12

Continue decreasing before and after middle stitch until there are 38 sts. Don’t forget to knit every other row.

Switch to white
Continue decreasing before and after middle stitch until there are 26 sts.
This is a good time to fill the football with polyfil(or whatever you like)

Switch to brown
Continue decreasing until there are 6 sts, pull yarn through and tuck in ends. Sew on finger laces and you’re done!

Today I will break.

I'm taking a break from pattern writing...because after last night I think I might have 8 hairs left on my head. :(

So, my friend Sher emailed me this cute pumpkin pattern and I made it for my daughter today. (she loves pumpkins, but who doesn't?)

Everyone else should make this too! It is EXTREMELY easy and quick!
